Prepare to journey again to the cosmos and learn more about astronomy as the National Planetarium reopens this July, just in time for National Culture Consciousness Week.

After months of closure and rescheduled opening, Filipinos can visit the famous Manila City site again, only this time with strict observance of health and safety protocols.

Here’s what you need to know.

Who can visit?

In compliance with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ (IATF-EID) guidelines, only individuals ages 15 and above, including those with disabilities, will be admitted. Fully vaccinated senior citizens can also enter the National Planetarium.

Who cannot enter?

In keeping the planetarium safe, visitors with 37.5 degrees celsius body temperature are not be allowed to enter. People with flu-like symptoms or fever are also not permitted inside.

Are walk-ins welcome? Do we need to register online?

According to the National Planetarium, online registration is not required. Visitors only need to present a valid ID with their birthdate. Visitors need to fill up a health declaration form before entering, which can be done via StaySafePH mobile app. Also, The planetarium only allows 20 visitors inside per 30-minute session.

What to do inside?

While touring the planetarium, guests are expected to comply with the general health and safety protocols such as wearing protective gears like face masks and face shields, as well as maintaining a physical distance of at least two meters with fellow visitors.

What to see?

The National Planetarium’s theater remains closed due to health safety concerns. What visitors can check out is its exhibition featuring the ethno-astronomy of indigenous Filipinos.

When to visit?

The National Planetarium is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a noon break to clean the area.
