Yes! They are already accepting tourists!

Finally! The Summer Capital of the Philippines—Baguio City has opened its doors for the tourists coming from the NCR+ bubble. 

With that, Manila Bulletin Lifestyle prepares a simple step-by-step process guide on how to book the much-awaited getaway adventure in the City of Pines.

  1. Sign up to visita.baguio.gov.ph

Even though Baguio is now accepting tourists, to make sure that COVID-19 pandemic spread is under control, the local government unit (LGU) is limiting it to 3,000 visitors daily. Thus, to be able to visit, every tourist should register first to visita.baguio.gov.ph.

Simply create an account, schedule the visit, and identify the hotel or accommodation place. LGU has pre-selected and approved hotels and transient houses that passed the high standards of safety health protocols. 

Once the request to visit is approved, tourist will receive a QTP or special QR code. Baguio is strictly implementing a No QTP, No Entry policy.

2. Get negative COVID-19 test

Another important requirement is a negative COVID-19 test result at least 72 hours prior to arrival. Visitors also have the choice to the test in Baguio. LGU is offering a subsidized antigen test for only P350.

For those who are traveling via P2P bus, each bus company is requiring a negative test before boarding. Genesis bus line is offering antigen for P500 while Victory Liner is offering fare plus swab test bundle for P1,376. 

Also, those traveling through public transport are require to sign up to hdf.baguio.gov.ph. Personnel from the bus company line’s triage will help and assist each passenger on processing the requirements for this specific site. Lastly,

3. Mandatory triage upon arrival

Upon arrival in the border, tourists need to present the QTP. Depending on the color of the QTP, each visitor is assigned to a specific triage facility. 

For those who are acquiring antigen test in Baguio and tested positive, will not be allowed to enter and will be immediately referred to the nearest health facility. 

After more than a year in isolation due to the pandemic, everyone deserves a break. While enjoying a short escape in Baguio, another important thing to remember is to always follow safety health protocols—wearing mask and face shield, practicing social distancing, and sanitizing. Baguio LGU is strict in implementing these protocols. Those who will be caught not wearing face shields in public areas will have to pay a P1,000 fine.
