Hello! Bonjour! Buenos Dias!

Knowing a second, or even third, language is now seen as a competitive edge in the workforce. Beyond that, it provides the student with a better appreciation of the world around them and even boosts brain functionality. As many traditional schools are moving online, extracurricular activities are following suit. If you are interested in using your time to learn a new language, check the list below to find out what Manila centers and institutions offer online tutorials and language teaching.

As the second most spoken language in the world in terms of native speakers, Spanish is a popular second-language choice for many. And for English and Tagalog speakers, Spanish is one of the easiest second-languages to pick up. Instituto Cervantes, named after the prolific Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes, now offers Spanish courses online for adults and children. The courses generally follow the methods of their on-site classes, with a live teacher on call, but will also include access to AVE Global, the online courses of Instituto Cervantes.

French is often considered the language of love, but it is also the language of business, science, and law in many parts of the world, which makes it a popular second-language to learn. The international organization Alliance Française, formed in 1883 by a group that included author Jules Verne, aims to promote the French language around the world. Since the beginning of the year, online classes and video conferencing platforms have been implemented in the French classes.

There are a variety of classes offered by Alliance Française, some fully online with a tutor, others partly autonomous, some once a week, others up to four times a week, all depending on your schedule.

The beginner courses cost from P5,250 to P7,650. An online children’s course, aimed at students aged six to 11, consists of eight one-hour classes and costs P2,450.There are also more flexible online classes offered with private tutorials and individual coaching for all levels. The prices are not listed on their website. Instead, they suggest e-mailing for a quotation.

Alliance Française follows the CEFRL, preparing students to undertake either the Diploma of French Language Studies (DELF) and the Test d’Evaluation de Française (TEF), both internationally recognized by most education institutions for foreign language course credit. | Facebook: AllianceFranciasedeManille
