If dreams are Jennie from Blackpink’s reality, it would look like Jentle Home.

The four-floor space, which is part of the K-Pop superstar’s latest eyewear collaboration with luxury brand, Gentle Monster, takes inspiration from Jennie’s childhood memories and fantasies of a “retro dollhouse which I never had as a kid.”

“We created a nostalgic fantasy world filled with teddy bears and dollhouses,” the brand writes in the campaign’s explainer. “[It is] a sentimental experience to bring our own fantasies to life and to remind us of our own innocent dreams and hopes that we often forget and lose.”

True enough, in a video tour hosted by the Blackpink member herself, Jennie has introduced the pop-up space as a place where she “couldn’t feel more [at] home” as each corner is representative of her.

What to expect

Gentle Monster, a Korean sunglasses and optical glasses brand established in 2011, is known not only for their unique eyewear pieces, but also for their one-of-a-kind retail spaces. For context, the brand hires 10 times more employees to design store visuals than the actual eyewear products, all to offer “an immersive and experiential offline shopping experience” in a country with an impressive online retail culture and delivery services.

Jentle Home is as impressive as the brand’s 41 stores in South Korea and worldwide.

Upon arriving at 22, Apgujeong-ro 10-gil, Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu in the country’s capital,  Seoul, where Jentle Home is located, visitors can expect an adorable, pastel-colored facade featuring a sign saying, “Welcome to Jentle Home,” and a lifesized version of an ordinary doll family: parents at the dining table enjoying breakfast, the daughter talking to a friend over the phone, the son lounging in the bathtub with music blasting in his ears via a headset, the family dog just outside his dog house in the front lawn, and a neighborhood uncle at the community basketball court in his sporty attire and Jentle Home eyewear.

The second floor is home to four different rooms—the dressing room, kitchen, living room, and a secret room.

The living room incorporates contemporary pieces with natural elements such as olive-painted walls and animal figurines.

“They did a lot of animal stuff [here] because they know I love animals,” Jennie says in a video tour. “Everything you see was made out of ceramic and was handmade. Every single piece, I made sure that it came out right, in the right color.”

As for the best part of the room, she says it’s the digital fire in the fireplace, which also has Jentle Home on it.

The kitchen, meanwhile, boasts of the eyewear brand’s knack for detail.

From the fresh produce to a cracked egg, as well as a pet cat trying to reach for food at the kitchen counter, everything in this part of the house is as real as it gets.

“Look at this spoon and fork,” Jennie says. “It looks pretty usable to me.”

Visitors can also use the space’s dressing room to try out her eyewear line with the brand. There’s more to this room than meets the eye, though.

“In this dressing room, there’s this little tiny space that I made. It’s the secret fountain room,” Jennie says. “As a kid, I’ve always dreamed of my little dollhouse inside a closet. I would have my teddy bears [and] my dolls in here.”

The secret room is a pink, dreamy space complete with a teddy bear fountain that has pearls as water and “clouds in the back so it gives more of an aesthetic vibe that you guys can enjoy.”

Another closet door leads to the third floor, which has a retro-themed supermarket aptly called Jentle Market. It comes with pink shopping baskets and cashier counters with Jennie’s favorite number, three. It sells special miniature candy inspired by Jentle Home, too, in limited quantities available daily.

“This is called Call Me Jennie, a retro flip phone in different colors, which are just fun to play with,” she says. “I did mention that I’m going to need a big rock candy ring [pops] so they made it happen for me.”

For more of Jennie’s eyewear line and collaboration, the top floor has all the oversized sunglasses, trendy spectacles, detachable fashion chains, as well as official campaign photos by fashion photographer Hugo Comte.

On what it feels like to work on such a space, the Blackpink member says she has had the greatest time.

“I had a great time working with Gentle Monster [in this collaboration],” she says. “I hope it’s not the only one.”

Instagram haven

Jentle Home, though obviously eye candy, is not meant for seeing only. Each room serves as a perfect backdrop for the ultimate Instagram photo. Jennie herself has repeatedly encouraged everyone who visits the space to take photos.

“When you guys come and check this house out, I want you to take a photo in your favorite place,” she says. “Tag me so I can see different ways to appreciate this space.”
